ENSEMBLES 2022
Camerata Junior Thun
The Junior Camerata is an ensemble comprised by ten string performers from the Music School Region Thun. It is made up of music-loving, advanced students and was founded in 2016 by conductor and teacher Georgios Balatsinos. Under his direction, the Junior Camerata studies a repertoire with works from different epochs - from Mozart and Elgar to the modern and contemporary epoch.
The members of the Junior Camerata are 15 to 20 years old and are as enthusiastic about the their instrument as as making music together. They perform regularly and enrich a wide variety of events with their carefully rehearsed pieces. Their musical playing is always without a conductor, which means that the members have to take on a lot of personal responsibility and act as part of a whole.
The highlight of the Junior Camerata so far was a performance in the Bundeshaus on the occasion of the ambassador's reception in January 2022. Another highlight will be participation in the international youth music festival in Vienna in summer 2022.
