Important information for families & friends of the ensembles in Europe

Dear Visitors

We are happy to welcome you to the SCL Festival!
Our aim is to provide you with the information that will help you to experience the SCL festival in the best possible way.

All family and friends travelling outside of pre-booked packages will find links to the concerts in the box called "Infopoint". Under the link concerts we provide a list of all the concerts during the SCL Festival and - where available - we also provide a link to purchase the tickets for those concerts.

  • A link to purchase tickets will be published as soon as the concerts are online.

For all family and friends travelling with the organized Festival tour, you can find your inclusions and information below:

The following options exist for organized tours of parents and friends (shadow tours) exclusively:

  • Opening ceremony at the Wiener Konzerthaus  – Subject to reconfirmation
  • Two additional concerts in or around Vienna (generally they are free of charge, but due to limited space availability reservation is needed)
  • Competition or celebration in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein (this event is free of charge, but due to limited space availability reservation is needed)
These events are not open to the public. Friends and family are welcome to attend. Please enter and exit with the group via the side entrance. Extra visitors MUST arrive at same time of the group.
  • Workshops at the University of Music can only be attended by ensemble participants, but are not open to family and friends.
  • Closing ceremony at the Vienna City Hall. Admissions to the City Hall are restricted to participants only.

For information on shadow tours please contact us or your local travel agent assisting your ensemble with all arrangements.

Please remember: No photo or video equipment is allowed in the Musikverein and Konzerthaus. This is not festival policy but a requirement of the halls. Our staff is instructed to act accordingly. However, festival photographers will be present at both venues and the photos taken will be forwarded to all participants after the festival. These photos are not for commercial use.

Dresscode

Generally the dress code for all events differs according to the venue.
Opening Ceremony: No dress code applies.
Conductor's Dinner: No dress code applies. As the conductors' meeting takes place immediately after the opening ceremony, no change of clothes is possible or required.
Gala Winners' Concert in the Great Hall of the Konzerthaus: The Konzerthaus does not officially require a certain dress code. Considering the festive occasion, we would however suggest smart casual (no shorts, t-shirts). Suits and evening gowns are not required but are also appropriate. Overcoats, bags, rucksacks and umbrellas must be left at the Konzerthaus cloakrooms for security reasons.
Farewell / Closing Ceremony: See Konzerthaus. No change of clothes required.
All other events: For all other events and venues no dress code applies. Please be aware that some concerts might take place in a church and clothing should be accordingly there (e.g. no shorts or strapless tops)

The Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival is proud to be an international meeting point and to welcome groups from all over the world, but as such we are not a political event and we kindly ask you to refrain from carrying political symbols or flags. (Due to security reasons flags are generally prohibited in the venues).
