ENSEMBLES 2017
Chin-Ai String Orchestra
Chin-ai village, situated in a remote mountain area in Taiwan, raised a group of indigenous kids who are full of musical talent and love for music.
Everything began eight years ago when Mrs. Chen, a teacher in Chin-ai Elementary School, started teaching four students to play the violin for fun. It surprised her that these kids were highly talented in music. She was wondering if there would be another way for the kids’ future. In 2014, the Chin-Ai Sring Orchestra, the only indigenous string orchestra in Taiwan, was established. Although they do not have many resources, they managed to overcome the difficulties with passion for music and through strong determination and hard-work. Music brings positive change to their lives. For them, playing music is not for competition nor for becoming a musician. Music is about sharing, bringing happiness to others and about their passion for life.
