Hsing Lung Recorder Orchestra
The orchestra was formed in March 2014 by gathering children from Hsing Lung Primary School who love the recorder. In the eight years since its establishment, the scale of the orchestra has matured day by day, giving children who love the recorder a stage to show their love for music because of the recorder.
The orchestra employs professional teachers to teach, and the basic practice is quite solid. In addition to regular practice and participation in domestic and foreign competitions, the orchestra is also planned to participate in international master classes. The use of the group can deeply understand the essence and connotation of music through the recorder ensemble, and expand the horizons of the members . The orchestra has rich experience in domestic and foreign competitions. It has performed in the National Concert Hall, and has also been invited to perform in Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall, Hong Kong Education University, Hong Kong Disneyland and other places.
The orchestra participated in the Hsinchu County Music Competition in 2016 and won the first prize in recorder ensemble. In 2017 the orchestra won the Special Award in the National Student Music Competition for Recorder Ensemble. In the same year, they went to Japan to participate in the 38th Japan Recorder Competition and won the Gold Award for Recorder Ensemble. In 2018, they won the first prize in Hsinchu County Music Competition, and the highest honor award in Chuncheon International Recorder Competition in Korea. In 2019 and 2021, they won the ensemble special award in the National Student Music Competition.
Meng-Heng Chen
Conductor
Meng-Heng Chen, faculty of Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. She earned the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University in 2010, with a major in Historical Performance and Recorder as her performing instrument, and was awarded the “Student Presentation Honor Award”. Chen was often invited to teach and perform in several countries including China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Israel, Holland, Belgium and many others. Since her excellent performance after graduated, she was awarded as a notable alumnus at the Boston University. In 2018 and 2022 she earned the award for outstanding teaching from Tsing Hua University.
Chin-Chia Kuo
Conductor
He graduated from the Department of Music of Fu Jen Catholic University and the Institute of Music of National Tsinghua University, majoring in Recorder. He became enthusiastic about the recorder when he joined the recorder ensemble in elementary school. While improving his solo skills, he is also a member of the Hsinchu Recorder Orchestra. He has performed in various concert halls at Taiwan and abroad and participated in recorder ensemble competitions. He is currently a music teacher of Hsing Lung Primary School and leads the recorder ensemble to participate in various performances and competitions.
