ENSEMBLES 2024
Edmonton Young Voices
The EYV Chamber Choir is one of four choirs in Edmonton Young Voices, a non-competitive family of children's and youth choirs in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada that is committed to creating an exceptional, accessible, and inclusive choral experience and centring the process of learning and singing high quality repertoire together. Developed to nurture and challenge our young adolescent singers and augment and enrich the technical, musical, and vocal skills of our older singers, the Chamber Choir provides a safe and accepting community where singers ages 12 and up are encouraged to take risks and step outside of their comfort zones. Singers in this group also act as leaders within EYV, and have opportunities to work with and help our younger singers. The Chamber Choir sings a wide range of repertoire from early music to contemporary a cappella and strives for excellence in choral artistry, vocal technique, and performance. Chamber Choir singers rehearse once a week for two hours, perform two major concerts a year, sing at various community events, and have the option to participate in a tour. Tours include Vancouver, British Columbia and Havana, Cuba, and we are thrilled to be on our first European tour!
Lyndsey Olsen
Conductor
Lyndsey has been fortunate to have spent most of her life singing in choirs and studying choral music, and has found the greatest joy in sharing this love for the choral music experience with young singers. For the last 20 years, Lyndsey has worked with singers in kindergarten through post-secondary, mainly in her positions with Edmonton Young Voices and Edmonton Catholic Schools, and also as a voice instructor, adjudicator, and conductor of other children’s choirs in Edmonton and surrounding areas. She is currently the Artistic Director of EYV, the director of the All-City High School Choir, the director of the Archbishop MacDonald High School Choir, and the founding director of MACappella. She holds a Bachelor of Education with a focus in Choral Music from the University of Alberta and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from California State University Los Angeles. Lyndsey is a mom of three daughters and enjoys bike rides, slow snowboarding on wide open runs, and cooking and eating with her family.
